Fellow Pine Tree members, I hope everyone had a great summer. At the Club the new video surveillance system has been installed, we have new lighting on the indoor range, upgrades have been made to satisfy local fire codes and the new electronic access system upgrades will be installed and operational by the October Annual Meeting.
It’s time to start planning Club business for 2010. This year our 2009 annual dinner meeting will be held on Tuesday October 20th at the Foster Country Club, 67 Johnson Road, Foster RI. To get there go east on route 6, past the Pine Tree Gun Club, take a left on Cucumber Hill Road then turn left on Harrington Road. If need be, members can call the Foster Country Club at 401-397-5990. Registration will begin at 5pm. The meeting and dinner will start at 7pm. To avoid confusion, please do not approach the registration tables until 5:00pm as we need time to properly set up each station. Cost of the dinner is $15 per person. If staying for the meal, please ensure you include the $15 when you pay your 2010 dues. We returned to the Foster Country Club because last year we had the largest turnout in recent history and a number of members suggested we use the club again as they did a great job. They gave us a great dinner two large rooms and ample parking, something they’ve promised to do again this year.
As you know, this year we are installing a new keyless, electronic access system for member identification and access to our facilities. Gate keys will remain the same, as will badges and badge numbers. The difference will be the new access system will be activated by the use of a key farb and will work in tandem with the new video surveillance system. Due to the cost of implementing this state of the art system an additional one time refundable payment of $10 will be collected at the time you pay your dues. That cost will be added to the previous key card deposit to offset what would have been a $20 to $25 deposit. Please remember, DUES MUST BE PAID IN PERSON. Payment for other members will not be accepted and keys, badges or key farbs will not be given out unless the member pays in person. Please bring your badge and write your badge number in the memo portion of your check. NO CASH PLEASE. Remember to include $15.00 if you are staying for the dinner.
As always this years meeting will include the nomination and election of all Officers and one Executive Committee member. We invite you to submit your nominations for all positions, as well as the open executive committee position prior to October 20th. Send your nomination to Mr. Todd George at toddgeorge@verizon.net.
Items on our agenda this year will include: a discussion on the current system for sponsorship of new members. The current system has left many potential new members without the ability to join our Club. The use of the outdoor pistol range and the implementation of a mandatory safety course/range instruction for all new members. In today’s world this last item has taken on significant importance and should be supported in some form by all members.
REMEMBER
The Junior Rifle Team fund raiser and raffle will be held again this year. Historically Pine Tree members have been very generous in donating items for this raffle prior to or on the evening of our annual meeting. PLEASE BE AS GENEROUS AS YOU HAVE BEEN IN THE PAST. All of the proceeds from this raffle benefit the Pine Tree Junior Rifle Team and help defray the costs of teaching our future shooting enthusiast the discipline, safety and enjoyment of shooting. As always, we look forward to seeing everyone on October 2oth at the Foster Country Club in Foster RI. Should you have any questions regarding the raffle or regarding the meeting itself please call me at 401-647-4943.
